What are the advantages and disadvantages of eating persimmons?

I like to eat persimmons, but I don't dare to eat too much, afraid of being bad for my health.

There are thousands of varieties of persimmons in this world, and they are divided into two types: persimmon and persimmon according to whether they can be naturally dislocated before maturity in the tree. Among them, the persimmons (most of the persimmons listed in China belong to this category) must be artificially dislocated after being picked, and the material basis for causing the persimmon taste is tannic acid (also known as tannic acid). Persimmon contains a lot of carbohydrates, 10.8 grams per 100 grams of persimmon, mainly sugar, glucose and fructose, which is why people feel sweet persimmon. There are not many other nutrients in persimmons, only a small amount of fat, protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin C. In addition, persimmon is rich in pectin, it is a water-soluble dietary fiber, has a good laxative effect, and has a good effect on correcting constipation and maintaining normal intestinal flora growth.

Chinese medicine believes that persimmon is sweet, sputum, cold, and has the functions of clearing heat to dryness, moistening the lungs and removing phlegm, softening, quenching thirst, spleen, curing phlegm, stopping bleeding, etc., which can relieve dry stool, hemorrhoid pain or bleeding, dry cough, Sore throat, high blood pressure and other symptoms. Therefore, persimmon is a natural health food for patients with chronic bronchitis, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, and internal and external acne. If you use persimmon leaves to decoction or rinse water as a tea, it also promotes the body's metabolism, lowers blood pressure, increases coronary blood flow, and relieves cough and phlegm.

Although there are many benefits to eating persimmons, there are a few points to be reminded:

Can't eat persimmon on an empty stomach

Because persimmon contains more tannic acid and pectin, in the case of fasting, they will form lumps of different sizes under the action of stomach acid. If these lumps can not reach the small intestine through the pylorus, they will stay in the stomach to form stomach persimmon. Small stomach persimmons are initially like apricot kernels, but they will accumulate. If the stomach persimmon can not be naturally excreted, it will cause obstruction of the digestive tract, severe pain in the upper abdomen, vomiting, and even hematemesis. In the operation, the stomach persimmon was found as a fist. If the stomach is "bottomed", the formation of stomach persimmon can be avoided.

Persimmon skin can not eat

Some people feel that eating persimmons while chewing persimmon skin is more flavorful than eating persimmons. In fact, this method of eating is unscientific. Because most of the citric acid in the persimmon is concentrated in the skin, it is impossible to remove all the citric acid from the persimmon when it is dislocated. If the skin is eaten together, it is easier to form the stomach persimmon, especially the dislocation process is not perfect. At the time, the skin contains more tannic acid.

Do not eat with high-protein crabs, fish, shrimps, etc.

In Chinese medicine, crabs and persimmons are cold foods, so they cannot be eaten together. From the point of view of modern medicine, crabs, fish and shrimps with high protein are easily solidified into pieces by the action of tannic acid, that is, stomach persimmon.

People with diabetes do not eat persimmons because they contain 10.8% of sugars, and most of them are simple disaccharides and monosaccharides (sucrose, fructose, and glucose). Therefore, they are easily absorbed after eating, which makes blood sugar rise. For people with diabetes, especially those with poor glycemic control are even more harmful.

Just right

The tannic acid in persimmon can form a compound that cannot be absorbed by the body with calcium, zinc, magnesium, iron and other minerals in food, so that these nutrients cannot be utilized. Therefore, eating more persimmons may easily lead to the lack of these minerals. Because persimmons contain more sugar, people eat persimmons more satiety than eating the same number of apples and pears, which can affect appetite and reduce the intake of meals. It is generally believed that it is better to eat no more than 200 grams of persimmon per time on an empty stomach.

Rinse mouth after eating

Persimmons are high in sugar and contain pectin. After eating persimmons, some of them remain in the mouth, especially in the teeth, and weakly acidic tannins are easy to erode the teeth and form dental caries. Therefore, they eat persimmons. After drinking a few mouthfuls of water, or gargle in time.

There are some red, persimmons on the market that look tempting, but they are not sweet at all. They are probably ripened with hormones. Because it is difficult to distinguish from the outside, it is recommended that you buy one and try to buy more.
